A new milliped genus of the family Chelodesmidae (Diplopoda: Polydesmida) from Cuba

چکیده
A new genus and three new species of milliped of the family Chelodesmidae are described. Relationships with the genus Leiomodesmus Loomis, 1938, and Granmadesmus Perez-Asso, 1990, from Cuba are defined, and also with Biaporus Loomis, 1941 and Synecheporus Loomis, 1941, from the Dominican Republic.

A new, disjunct, diplopod genus from Espirito Santo, Brasil (Polydesmida: Chelodesmidae)
The new generic and specific names Cryptosolenomeris macrogon are proposed for a large chelodesmoid milliped collected at Linhares, Espírito Santo, Brazil, and characterized particularly by the elongated gonotelopodites lacking torsion and apically recurved into a calyciform shield concealing the solenomere; the typical chelodesmoid prefemoral process appears to be either undeveloped or present...

The genus Diaphorodesmus is revised and shown to comprise only a single species, Diaphorodesmus dorsicornis (Porat, 1894) by priority, with the only other formal congener, Diaphorodesmus attemsii Verhoeff, 1938, considered as its junior subjective synonym, syn. n. A new monotypic genus, Diaphorodesmoides gen. n., is created to include Diaphorodesmoides lamottei sp. n., from southwestern Cameroo...

Polydesmida is the largest order in the class Diplopoda in terms of the number of species, genera and families, but there are few studies of the ovarian morphology of species in this order. This study aimed to perform a comparative study of the ovarian morphology of three species from this order to increase the understanding of the morphological evolution of this system in Polydesmida. Adults f...

Ammodesmidae are represented in western Africa by two species of a single genus, Ammodesmus Cook, 1896 (= Cenchrodesmus Cook, 1896, syn. n.). The type-species Ammodesmus granum Cook, 1896 (= Cenchrodesmus volutus Cook, 1896, syn. n.) is redescribed, based on neotype selection, as well as on additional samples, often containing numerous specimens, from Liberia, Guinea and the Ivory Coast. A new ...
